Bargaining Summary from the Meeting on Apr. 5, 2024

Labor negotiations continued with the Librarian bargaining unit on Friday, April 5, 2024, to continue working toward an initial collective bargaining agreement. The University’s bargaining team and FAM’s bargaining team worked from approximately 10 a.m. until approximately 4:45 p.m. at the Wilks Conference Center on the University’s Hamilton Campus.

To begin, the University presented a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) on the “Instructor” title, as well as proposals on (i) Promotion and (ii) Librarian Ranks.

The parties took a break to caucus and, upon return to joint session, the Union passed a counter proposal on the “Instructor” MOU, as well as updated proposals on (i) Scope of Librarian Duties and Working Conditions; and (ii) Librarian Promotion, Tenure, and Evaluation. The University then presented counter proposals on the following: (i) Health, Safety, and Security; (ii) Grievance and Arbitration; (iii) Parking; and (iv) Furloughs.

The parties reached tentative agreement on and executed the Instructor MOU. They will next meet on April 19, 2024.
