  1. Demonstrate critical thinking skills (communication, design thinking, visual communication, technical documentation, investigative, fundamental design, use of precedents, ordering systems, historical traditions and global cultural, cultural diversity, applied research);
  2. Demonstrate integrated building practices, technical skills and knowledge (pre-design, accessibility, sustainability, site design, life safety, comprehensive design, financial considerations, environmental systems, structural systems, service systems, materials and assembles);

Art & Architecture History, B.A.

  1. Identify the defining characteristics of major styles, historical periods, and artists in the history of art;
  2. Analyze basic methodologies of art historical investigation and apply them to their own original research;
  3. Communicate their own art historical arguments to a specialized audience in a way that demonstrates their own understanding of the history of art and their own creative thinking about that material;
  4. Collaborate with peers to present art historical arguments to a public audience.

  1. Employ techniques and processes of the various studio disciplines to create innovative non-verbal expressions;
  2. Demonstrate problem-solving and creative inquiry skills in works utilizing the various discipline-based media;
  3. Compare and interpret through writing and verbalization, the meanings and intentions of their own, as well as the creative expressions of others;
  4. Exhibit knowledge of practical skills of artistic practice such as preparing images for professional opportunities such as grants and exhibitions.

  1. Students will produce, present, and defend a body of work in their culminating one-person thesis exhibition. They will explain their choices about what should be presented as a body of work. They will explain how practice and concepts are related in the exhibition.
  2. Students will explain and defend thesis work by narrating the evolution of ideas and relevant practices investigated during their time in the program, explaining how this evolution has informed the body of work in the thesis exhibition.
  3. Students will communicate orally, and in writing aesthetic judgments using criteria that demonstrate understanding of contemporary art and its impact on visual culture.

Arts Management and Arts Entrepreneurship

Arts Management and Arts Entrepreneurship, B.A.

  1. Identify the essential entrepreneurial and business functions in an arts or creative enterprise.
  2. Demonstrate progressing experimentation in one or more art forms.
  3. Demonstrate increasing proficiency in critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, and communication.
  4. Generate arts or creative enterprise projects that integrate arts, arts management & arts entrepreneurship, and business concepts.

Department of Emerging Technology in Business + Design

Games and simulation, B.S.

  1. Students will be able to apply the fundamental principles of game design
  2. Students will be able to critique and apply aesthetic principles to game art, design, and development
  3. Students will demonstrate fluency in relevant tools and technologies for game development

Entrepreneurship and Emerging Technology, M.E.E.T.

  1. Develop a feasible model for an emerging media startup grounded in UX research and supported with a digital marketing plan.
  2. Create a digital prototype of an emerging media product or platform and validate the prototype.
  3. Apply a depth of practical methods in the management of an emerging media organization. Specifically, a depth in building a tech startup, programming, design, or tournament organization.
  4. Implement emerging media best practices in a practical experience with an organization that leverages emerging technology to meet actual business needs.

Esports Management, M.E.M.

  1. Interpret and explain the managerial and promotional principles, ecosystem, governance structure specific to the esports industry.
  2. Identify, articulate, and analyze social, economic, and cultural impacts of the esports on the gaming, sport, and business environments.
  3. Critically examine esports management issues and explain and demonstrate ethical best practices in the decision-making process.
  4. Develop a diverse set of skills in economics, business, marketing, broadcasting, coaching, and event management used for developing a successful career in esports management.
  5. Plan, organize, execute, and evaluate an esports event through employing principles of strategic planning, marketing, public relations, and financial management.

Esports Management, Graduate Certificate

  1. Students will develop a unique streaming channel/program to pilot by the end of the course.
  2. Students will learn to host an event by developing an intricate event planning document based on (or for) an existing event and reviewed by an expert from the industry.
  3. Students will develop a social media marketing plan for an Esports player complete with analysis of changes in exposure.
  4. Students will be able to write a blog/article consistent with the editorial expectations in esports journalism.

Department of Music

Music, B.A.

  1. Demonstrate skills requisite for artistic self-expression in their major performance medium;
  2. Critically analyze chromatic music within a tonal idiom;
  3. Identify significant, genres, composers, performers and repertories that have impacted histories of Western Art Music and explain political, cultural, philosophical, artistic and social contexts that have influenced the formation of musical styles.

Music Composition, B.M.

  1. Students will demonstrate knowledge of compositional craft and orchestration through the creation of art music using a variety of techniques.
  2. Students will hone and critically reflect on their personal voice as a composer.
  3. Students will develop the interpersonal, musical, and technical skills required to curate and manage a concert of their own works.
  4. After completing a two-semester sequence, students will be able to identify significant genres, composers, and repertories in an established canon of Western music and explain political, cultural, philosophical, artistic and social contexts in order to also question and diversify that canon through processes of research in music.
  5. Through the music theory and aural skills sequence, students will explore a variety of musical styles to develop proficiency in analyzing, conceptualizing, recognizing, interpreting, and researching common elements and organizational patterns related to melody, rhythm, harmony, form, and composition.
  6. Students will demonstrate proficiency in functional piano skills through the performance of repertoire; scales, arpeggios, and chord progressions; sight reading; score reading; harmonization and transposition; improvisation; and accompaniment.
  7. Students will demonstrate progressive technical and artistic abilities in a primary performance medium, through individual study in an applied studio and ensemble participation.
