Function

The functions of the Information Technology Policy Committee are to:

  • Advise the Vice President for Information Technology on matters of policy and implementation regarding computers, communication networks, and other aspects of information technology at Miami University;
  • Monitor and review information technology policies and procedures;
  • Assist in seeking input, and interpreting responses, from the University community on issues of strategic and tactical planning for information technology;
  • Evaluate proposals for the use of University-wide student technology fees for specialized purposes; and
  • Report regularly to University Senate. 

The chair of the Information Technology Policy Committee shall also serve on the IT Portfolio Board.

Composition

  • Five (5) faculty members, no more than two (2) of whom shall be selected from any one academic division
  • Two (2) staff members, representing different administrative divisions (i.e., serving under different vice presidents)
  • One (1) representative (dean, librarian, or staff member) of the University Libraries.
  • One (1) undergraduate student
  • One (1) graduate student
  • One (1) ex officio, non-voting members, Vice President for Information Technology
At least one (1) member of the Committee shall be a:
  • member of University Senate, and
  • shall represent the regional campuses
