Miami University Synchronized Skating Creativity Camp FAQs

What does a typical camp day look like?

Camp mornings will include two one-hour on-ice classes and two one-hour off-ice sessions, followed by lunch and a structured downtime. Afternoons will include two forty-five-minute on-ice classes and one off-ice session before dinner, plus organized evening activities in the residence hall.

When are the check in and check out times for Creativity Camp?

Camp Check In will be from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, July 9th. Camp Check Out will be from 1:30pm to 2:00pm on Sunday, July 12th. The university is unable to provide housing or supervision for campers before the check in window or after the check out window.

Will campers be grouped by skill level?

Yes, we make every effort to group campers by skill level. Campers will be assigned to the same group as their roommate.

Can campers request a roommate?

Yes. Campers are assigned to double rooms with another athlete of similar age and in the same camp group. If two skaters want to room together, each must request the other on their registration. If a reciprocal request is not made—or no request is listed—our staff will assign a suitable roommate. Triple roommate requests are not accepted, though a triple may be assigned if required by the university. Final room assignments are determined by the camp director.

Can I change a roommate request?

Yes, please email miamisynchrocamp@MiamiOH.edu as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate the request.

Where do campers stay overnight?

Campers stay in renovated, air-conditioned Miami University residence halls located within walking distance of the Goggin Ice Center.

Where do campers eat and what meals are included?

Meals are served at a Miami University dining hall close to the ice arena. Overnight campers receive lunch and dinner on the first day; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on full camp days; and breakfast on the final day. Day campers receive lunch on full camp days, but no meals on the first or last day.

Where can I share information for my child who has dietary restrictions?

Miami University Dining Services can accommodate a wide range of dietary needs. As camp approaches, we will provide a link for submitting dietary requests and contact information for the university dietitian.

Who supervises campers?

Campers are supervised by trained camp counselors who are Miami University students and athletes on our varsity skating teams. Additionally, we have a Dorm Supervisor and a Camp Manager, both with many years of Miami Skating Camp experience, who stay in the dorms and support campers throughout the week.

Can my camper attend both camps?

Yes! Skaters who are eligible for both camps are welcome and encouraged to attend both.
