Meal Plans

Meal plans at Miami provide flexibility and value to match our students’ needs. They are flexible, transparent, and simple to use! Our Meal Plans are a combination of buffet meals plus declining balance dollars. Learn more about your meal plan options below, and also be sure to explore dining options in the Places to Eat section.

Meal plans are available to all Miami University students. Menus include a wide variety of freshly prepared and made-to-order items that have become Miami’s hallmark.

Dining Dollars can be used at any open dining location including both Starbucks locations on campus. This offers students flexibility for on-the-go food and beverage options. Think of Dining Dollars as a gift card for food on campus. You can also use Dining Dollars at the Dining Commons if you don't have swipes.

Important Reminders

Each time you use your meal plan, your account balance is displayed at the register. Be sure to check out our Frequently Asked Meal Plan Questions page for helpful info about the plans.

Weekly Meal Swipes: In order to help students manage their meal plans during the semester, and to get a better value, buffet meals are divided per week each semester. Depending upon the level you select, you'll get a specific number of buffet meals added to your card each week. Your meal swipes will reset early on Saturday morning of each week. If you have any unused swipes at that time, they do not carry forward. Our Minimum, Plus and Standard levels also come with a "Bonus Week" of meal swipes. This means that those plans come with an extra week's worth of meal swipes, which DO roll forward each week. These are available to be used if you use up your normal week's worth of meal swipes.

Meal Swipe Flexibility: In addition to being used at any of our Dining Commons locations, your meal swipes can also be used to purchase special breakfast combos at select campus market locations, as well as lunch and dinner "to go" meals at Maplestreet Commons Express.

Dining Dollars: For continuing students, any unspent Dining Dollars will automatically transfer to your meal plan for the next term. If you plan to be on campus during the summer, you will be able to use your Dining Dollars at any open dining location. If you're planning to graduate, or not return next year, don't forget that unspent meal plan dollars are not refundable or transferable when you leave. We encourage you to monitor your balance regularly, and budget carefully if you're considering future deposit amounts before the end of the semester.
