HOW DO I USE THE MIAMI DIGITAL ID?
The Miami Digital ID features the “Express Mode” transaction experience. For Miami ID readers, a user is able to approach the reader with a dark screen on their iPhone or Apple Watch without needing to authenticate via Face ID or Touch ID. Express Mode enables an extremely fast, frictionless experience designed for campus use.
When Express Mode is enabled, users will not be able to view their Miami ID card in Apple Wallet by double tapping the side button or home button.
When you add your Miami Digital ID to Apple Wallet, Express Mode is turned on by default. If you don’t want to use Express Mode, you can turn it off. Open Wallet, tap your Miami Digital ID, tap the ellipses in the top right and tap the Express Mode on/off button.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I view my UniqueID number from the Miami Digital ID?
To view your Unique ID, open the Wallet app. Navigate to the back of your Miami ID by clicking the "...". Scroll down until you see the ID # field. This is your UniqueID.
Can I view my meal plan, declining dollars and MULaa balance on my Miami Digital ID?
Yes! Open the Wallet app and select the Miami Digital ID. You can view your balances directly from the ID.
I receive an error message when trying to add my Digital ID to my wallet. What can I do?
If you receive a message on your phone that says "Could not add card" it likely means someone else's iCloud account is active on your phone and a different user has already issued a credential using the same iCloud account. It could also mean that your Digital ID is loaded to a different (old) phone or Apple watch. You'll need to revoke that card or create/login with a different iCloud account.
If someone else's AppleID is active on your phone, you should create a new one for yourself. After you do that, you'll be able to add your Miami DigitalID to your personal AppleID.
If you already are using your correct personal Apple ID, then you may need to remove/revoke the incorrect card from the wallet by following these steps:
- Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay
- Look under "Other Cards" to confirm the Miami Digital ID has been removed. If you do see Miami ID in this section, tap on it, and then scroll down and tap "remove"
- Go back to the main Settings app to make sure your Miami Digital ID is not associated with any other device
- Click on your name at the top of the menu to access your Apple ID settings page
- Scroll down to the list of devices and select any OLD iPhones or Apple Watches to see if Miami Digital ID is still listed on those device(s).
- If it is, then scroll down and select "Remove all cards"
- Once the cards are removed (may take a few moments), close and reopen the GET Mobile app. You should now be able to add the Miami Digital ID to your device. Once the incorrect card/credential is removed, close and reopen the GET Mobile App, and then you'll be able to add your Miami Digital ID to your device.
