What are youth teams?

  • Youth teams are organized groups of riders who practice together and travel together to horse shows.
  • Horses and tack are provided for the riders use during lessons and at horse shows.
  • All levels of riders are welcome. Riders compete in divisions based on their level of experience - from very beginners to accomplished competitive riders. Each division earns a score which counts for individual points as well as team points.

What "styles" of riding are offered?

  • Miami Youth teams offer Hunt Seat (English) riding through the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA).
  • Miami Youth teams offer Western Riding through the Youth Equestrian Development Association (YEDA).

What are the age groups?

  • Miami will offer teams for Middle School and High School riders (grades 6-12) in the YEDA association as well as the opportunity for Elementary riders (grades 4-6).
  • Miami will offer a Middle and High School IEA team (grades 6-12).
