The Role of the Family in Nursing Homes: Recommendations to Increase Family Satisfaction with Care

Families are important consumers of long-term care services who are likely to remain involved in the care of their resident loved one after placement.  The aims of this brief report are (1) to increase the understanding of the role of family members in long-term care facilities in Ohio, (2) to examine the resident, family member, and facility characteristics that are associated with higher family satisfaction, and (3) to propose strategies to improve family satisfaction.
