Registration Override Request Guide
The Registration Override Request (ROR) application is used by students to:
- request a seat in a course that is closed and not utilizing WaitList.
- request a seat in a course that is open but which is not accessible to the student due to registration errors (e.g., pre-requisite/test score not met, major/minor/thematic restrictions, time-conflicts, etc).
You can access ROR by logging into the online Course List and submit requests for course adds provided you have no registration holds and it is your time to register according to your registration time ticket.
How to submit a Registration Override Request:
- Log in to the Course List.
- Search for a course that is ROR eligible. (A list of departments currently utilizing ROR, and general information about the application are available by clicking on the next to “Registration Override Request Instructions” at the top of the page. Courses requested that are not listed here will not be acted upon.)
- Click on the “Submit Registration Override Request” link in the “Enrollment/Capacity” column.
- Rank the course sections in order of preference. You are not required to rank every section unless there is only one section of the course available.
- Enter a reason for your request in the required “Additional Information” field. Succinctly state why you are making the request (i.e. pre-requisite not met) and include helpful information (i.e. anticipated graduation date) that will assist the reviewer in understanding your request.
- Authorize the department reviewer to view your degree audit and academic transcript by checking the box next to the authorization statement (required to proceed with the request).
- You will receive a message at the top of the application and an email when you successfully submit your request.
- If you need to adjust your request go to the “Requests” tab at the top of the page to edit or delete a pending request. You will receive an email each time you edit or delete a pending request.
You will receive an email when your request is approved or denied. Please note that departments have different timeframes for reviewing and approving/denying requests. You can review the status of your request at any time on the “Request” tab.

How long will it take for my request to be reviewed?
Review time varies by department.
How do I join waitlist if the class I wanted doesn’t use ROR?
Visit the One Stop website and click “How do I add myself to a waitlist for a course?”.
