Private equity ownership and nursing home quality: An instrumental variable approach

There is a concern that when private equity firms purchase nursing homes, they will lower quality of care in order to increase profits. Using an instrumental variable procedure to adjust for resident selection into nursing homes, this study explores whether private equity owned nursing homes lower quality of care for long-stay residents.
