CSBI High School Program

2022 Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Brass Institute High School Scholars Program

June 6 - June 13, 2022

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Brass Institute, High School Scholars Program, is a week-long intensive educational and performance opportunity for high school brass players from Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and East Central Indiana.

Held on the beautiful campus of Miami University, June 6 through June 13, 2022, the participants will work closely with members of the Cincinnati Symphony Brass section and Miami University Faculty. With the support of the Miami University College of Creative Arts and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the program is being offered without cost.

The Institute will emphasize the fundamentals of high-level brass playing while exploring the world of brass chamber music. Chamber ensembles will perform high-profile concerts in both Cincinnati and Oxford. In addition to the training, students will also be given the opportunity to participate in other activities such as attending a live rehearsal with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Optional private instruction will be made available for a fee.

Through an audition process, the institute will select 4 Trumpets, 4 Horns, 3 Trombones, and 2 Tubas for participation.

Nothing of this kind has ever been offered to serious high school brass players in our region. This is an opportunity to study at the highest level and experience music-making as you never have before!
