The Discovery Center for Evaluation, Research, and Professional Learning serves as Ohio’s only comprehensive center for research, evaluation, and professional learning in science, mathematics, technology, computer science, and engineering education, dedicated to collaboration, advocacy, and strategic innovation.
The Discovery Center Fellowship Program is open to all Miami University faculty (with continuing appointments) and emeritus faculty. This opportunity is designed to build dialogue and collaborations among researchers, educators, administrators, policymakers, and stakeholders in the fields of education, evaluation, and research. The Center has provided our grant program officers with reports that are carefully assembled not only ensuring compliance, but also to give the most accurate information to the leadership team. From personal observation of the project to the final analysis of data, the Center gives national, state, and regional reports that provide readers with a clear understanding of the project.

The Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Partnership (ISEP) with Buffalo Public Schools is an NSF Math Science Partnership and most recently, one of 27 STEM Ecosystems recognized nationally by the STEM Funders Network. ISEP has worked with leadership and staff of the Discovery Center since 2011.Our work with the Center allows us to provide cutting edge data and analysis to publish, to inform our regional and national leadership, and to provide us with the best constructive and data-driven evaluations that we could hope for. Kristen Morio and her Discovery Center colleagues have been outstanding evaluation partners throughout Ohio's Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resilience Education) initiative. Kristen and her team have supported our multiple partners (including the Ohio Department of Education, MU's Center for School-Based Mental Health Programs, and our three partnering Educational Service Centers in Cuyahoga, Warren, and Wood counties) in navigating the complex and multiple layers of federal, state, and local process and outcome measurement and reporting, which allows our team to focus on bringing much-needed mental health and behavioral health services to our youth in Ohio's schools.
