B.S. of Kinesiology and Master of Athletic Training
Program Details
Combined degree programs allow highly qualified students to simultaneously pursue a Bachelor's and Master's degree.
- Students begin working toward a Master’s degree as they finish their undergraduate degree. For students admitted into the combined program, 9 hours of 400 or 500 level courses can be double-counted toward the B.S. and Master’s degrees. The degree may be obtained in four to five years, particularly if students bring advanced standing credit into the Bachelor's degree. Tuition is set in accordance with a student's classification.
Admission Prerequisites
- Minimum of 64 credit hours
- Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater
- Timeline for course work and declaration of interest should be discussed with KNH adviser
Application Process
- Rolling admissions with submission of the ATCAS Application by May 1.
- All applications will be reviewed by program faculty. Applications after this deadline will be reviewed and considered, however, acceptance into the MAT program will be dictated by the space and enrollment in the current cohort.
Program Coursework
Programs with a combined degree option allow students to double-count up to 9 credit hours of graduate course work toward their undergraduate major, minor, electives, or university requirements. These nine credits of MAT coursework will double count toward a B.S. degree in Kinesiology. Courses denoted with *.
The curricular progression is suggested and variations to the suggested progression are possible. There is potential to take undergraduate course requirements in Winter/Summer terms during the first three years of the combined program in order to decrease course load during Fall/Spring semesters.

*Note: Students are permitted to complete their immersive experience (i.e., 3 credit hour rotation) during their second year in the program. Both KNH 603 and KNH 604 are variable credit hour of 2-3. If the student elects to complete their immersive experience in KNH 603 then that course will be for 3 credit hours and KNH 604, the semester thereafter, will be for 2 credit hours. Vice versa, if the student elects to complete their immersive experience in KNH 604 then that course will be for 3 credit hours and KNH 603, the semester prior, will be for 2 credit hours.
