Recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Athletic Trainers (ATs) are credentialed healthcare professionals who provide injury prevention services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Miami University's Athletic Training program is one of the best and oldest in the state with over 40 years of educating Athletic Trainers. Our graduates are engaged to understand the physical, metabolic, organizational, societal, and cultural forces that affect health and performance.

Our program provides clinical experiences in an array of practice settings and builds a foundation necessary in performing the duties of an athletic trainer.
Students have the opportunity to complete experiences with the Division I athletic teams and club sport athletes at Miami University along with professional sports and health organizations such as:

- Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Physician Practices
- Mercy Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Rehabilitation Centers

Enter the Field of Athletic Training
Athletic Trainers (ATs) treat patients in a variety of settings. Many work in Professional Sports, Colleges and Universities, Secondary Schools, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, and Wellness Clinics.
In addition to traditional practices of Athletic Trainers, there are emerging opportunities in industrial/occupational, performing arts, physician practice, public safety, and military fields.

Combined Degree Program
The combined degree program is designed for students ultimately wishing to enter into the field of athletic training. Students completing the combined program are prepared to become credentialed healthcare professionals who provide injury prevention services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

Our Mission
The mission of the Athletic Training Program (ATP) at Miami University is to prepare educated professional athletic trainers through academic and clinical education in which students develop competency and proficiency of entry-level skills for successful completion of the Board of Certification (BOC) examination and placement within the athletic training profession. We seek to advance highly competent healthcare providers who integrate current evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values in practice.
