Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will be able to synthesize and discover gaps in the literature to develop evidence-based research questions and a research proposal that demonstrates their understanding of the sport studies, sport science, or sport management literature.
  2. Students will conduct and orally defend a research project designed to create new knowledge for the sport studies, sport science, or sport management field.
  3. Students will be able to integrate and practically apply their knowledge of the sport studies, sport science, and/or sport management literature toward the development of strategies to enhance participation and performance in sport, and/or to enhance the management or culture of sport.

Conduct Research

Students have the opportunity to participate in research experiences with faculty or by completing a Master's thesis. This research-based program prepares students to apply for doctoral programs in sport psychology, sport management, sport communication, or coaching.  

Prepare for Your Role

The program prepares students for leadership roles in sport psychology, sport management, higher education, coaching, athletic administration, student-athlete development, and mental performance consulting through required coursework, independent experiences in research, teaching, consulting, coaching, and administrative internships.

Admission requirements include a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution (with a recommended 3.0-grade point average), undergraduate transcript, resume/cv, personal statement, and one letter of recommendation.
