Innovative approach to career development highlighted at NCDA annual meeting

San Diego, CA – At the recent National Career Development Association (NCDA) annual conference, Katie Bowling-Southwood, senior associate director of career development, and Jordan D. Goffena, visiting assistant professor of sport leadership and management, presented an insightful session on integrating sport psychology techniques into career development. Their lecture, "Using Sport Psychology Techniques in Career Development to Support Student Mental Health," aimed to equip career development professionals with strategies to help students manage stress and build resilience. By applying mental performance techniques from sport psychology, Bowling-Southwood and Goffena showcased methods to aid students in self-regulation and identity development, which are crucial for their career success.
