Preparing the Next Generation of Inspirational Educators

The need for talented educators is critical, and TEACh (Transformative Educators Advocating Change) Cincinnati is meeting that need by building a pipeline of homegrown teacher talent. Partnering closely with eight Cincinnati Public High Schools (CPS), TEACh, an initiative from Miami University, recruits their students to overcome teaching shortages, diversify teaching staff, and provide support for students and new teachers.

Believing in the transformative power of education, GCF invested $100,000 into this program to unlock our region’s potential. “TEACh is preparing me for what I can expect when I’m in the classroom,” shared Jai’Nya Chinn, a Miami University student enrolled in TEACh Cincinnati. “I get to see how schools operate, see the relationships they have within those communities, and make connections.”

TEACh students like Chinn are crucial for local classrooms. In the 2023-2024 school year, CPS experienced a shortage of nearly 300 teachers. Even before the pandemic, teachers were struggling, with 44% of teachers leaving the profession within the first five years.

“TEACh Cincinnati’s program provides critically needed, quality educators to our public schools while also supporting young adults as they pursue meaningful careers,” said Rasheda Cromwell, Chief Impact Officer at GCF. Building a thriving region requires vibrant communities built by excellent public schools and teachers who feel supported and valued.
