Honors Ambassadors

The Honors Ambassadors you will meet at our Honors College Breakfast Make It Miami! events:

Dylan Allen

Class of 2026 | Accountancy | Hilliard, OH

As an honor student, you will be given a lot of extra opportunities (leadership opportunities, opportunities to take certain courses, opportunities to speak with faculty members). You should take one of these opportunities because you’ll definitely come away with something out of the experience.

Grace Amell

Class of 2026 | Chemical Engineering | Twin Cities, MN

Get involved! These are so many amazing student orgs on campus, so do your best to explore as many as possible to figure out which ones you are truly passionate about. From there, focus in on a few and try out some leadership roles. This will not only help you find smaller communities within the greater Miami student body, but also build your organizational and communication skills!

Alaina Barrett

Class of 2026 | Kinesiology and Premedical Studies | Columbus, OH

Take advantages of all of the things Miami has to offer! Join a club, use the writing center and stay in contact with your advisors but most importantly, enjoy your time here :)

Ashleigh Brelage

Class of 2025 | Communication Design | Muncie, IN

For any student I would say to be patient, but as an honors student this was specifically important because there is a lot of new things to navigate and it may not be what you expect! Along with this I would say that it is okay to say no. This goes along with being patient because it is important to remember you don't have to do everything right away and you can take the time to find out what is right for you!

Eli Davies

Class of 2024 | Political Science & Urban and Regional Planning | Mansfield, MA

Don't be afraid to reach out to faculty, staff, and other students to learn more about opportunities and how the university can support your goals. Whether you're still deciding where to attend or fully committed, the Miami community is very welcoming and friendly.

Lauren Doll

Class of 2026 | French, French Education, and Linguistics | Wapakoneta, OH

Make a plan! Use your honors requirements to explore information, opportunities, and events that will help you with your future goals, interests, or career. Make your plan early, so you are motivated and excited to work on it. Be open to new opportunities along the way that may change your plan.

Shelby Dolley

Class of 2024 | Public Administration and Education Studies | Maumee, OH

Check your email! Many of the amazing opportunities I took part in during my time at Miami were a result of me taking the time to read my emails each day and take a chance applying to things I was interested in.

Rachel Drone

Class of 2027 | Art Education | Hoffman Estates, IL

Take advantage of the common room areas in the Honors Residential College! Whether you are cheering on the Bengals on Sunday night or binge-watching Once Upon a Time on Disney+, chilling in the common room is a great way to both unplug from academics and bond with other people in your building.

Cailyn Ewers

Class of 2027 | Data Science and Statistics | Medina, OH

To give everything your absolute best effort but still enjoy life and be happy.

Abigail Jackson

Keep on track with the Honors College, because the benefits are really helpful and the experiences are really fun to take part in. Even if it sounds stressful to do 6 experiences and the project, what you get out of it is well worth it.

Sarah Johnson

Class of 2024 | Microbiology and Pre-Medical Studies | Danbury, CT

Experience everything you can! Invite the people in your dorm to a dining hall date, join new clubs, intramural, and keep an open mind! Joining the honors college is one of the many great ways you can build a community at Miami.

Eckhardt Karsten

If you want to get involved in organizations, internships, or research labs, a healthy amount of Hubris can get you far!

Alayna Meade

Anastasija Mladenovska

Class of 2026 | Political Science, Finance, and Russian, East European, & Eurasian Studies | North Macedonia

My biggest piece of advice is to approach opportunities, people, classes, relationships and generally the college experience from a perspective of curiosity and willingness to grow as a person and thrive in a dynamic environment rather than as something inherently given to you.
