Read USS Application Details in the Undergraduate Summer Scholars Program Guidelines
By designed the USS program provides an individual student an opportunity for one-on-one interactions with a faculty mentor as a means of learning more about the intellectual processes of a discipline. A total of 105 USS Research Fellowships are available for summer 2023.
The individual student is responsible to find an eligible Miami faculty mentor(s) to jointly created the research project and the application. Selected students must carry out the mentored research project during Summer Term dates (May 16 - Aug 4, 2023).

USS 2023 Program Updates
Teacher Scholar Grants Program (TSGP) is making supplemental funding (available in FY23, 24, and 25) to enable teacher-scholars to partner with undergraduate student collaborators.
- USS student fellowship will be increased by a 600$ supplement, bringing the amount to $3,200.
- Faculty mentor may include a request for up to $600 for a combination of supply funding and faculty professional development.
Miami's Western Center invites applicants to request consideration for one of five Western Center Social Impact and Justice Research (SIJR) USS fellowships
This USS application must address how the research engages with issues of social impact and/or social justice, in the project description. Eligible research explores topics related, but not limited, to equity, diversity, ethics, socio-cultural change, environmentalism, community engagement, identity, inclusion/exclusion, dialogue, and/or utilizes participatory research methodologies such as action research and citizen science. These research projects can be proposed by students from any major or disciplinary perspective/s. Mark the checkbox on the USS application cover page 1 to request consideration.

Miami University's 29th annual UR Forum celebration will include poster presentations, talks, a showcase of research centers, a featured exhibit on “telling your research story” and a panel discussion at lunchtime.

The online form will invite students to mark their available presentation times. Watch for further announcements at the start of spring classes. Students are encouraged browse URF22 Website to view presentation materials (i.e., project abstracts, author names, images) from previous projects.
