HCWE Accepting Nominations for the 2024 Roger & Joyce Howe Award for Excellence in Disciplinary Writing Instruction

The Howe Center for Writing Excellence is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2024 Roger & Joyce Howe Award for Excellence in Disciplinary Writing Instruction.

The award honors individual faculty members or teams of faculty who have made significant efforts to innovate writing instruction within the contexts of their disciplines. This innovation ensures that students have more opportunities to continuously improve their writing skills, particularly within their fields of study.

Each year, the HCWE offers two awards: one for an individual faculty member and one for a team of faculty (2-5 members). The HCWE prioritizes candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to teaching writing not just across their courses, but across time through their departments and programs. Other faculty who would be prime candidates include those who have innovated in key courses within a department or program.

These awards are made possible by the generous support of Roger and Joyce Howe, class of 1957. The Howes have donated over $15 million to support writing and writing instruction at Miami University.

Nominations are due by January 29, 2024. We look forward to reviewing all nominations for individual and faculty team awards!
