Learn about the special features in The New York Times for classroom use

Three sessions discussing the special features of The New York Times for use in the classroom will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, in King Library.

A representative from The New York Times will lead the sessions: 9:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. in the AIS room, first floor.

Miami University Libraries, in partnership with the Center for Research Libraries, has entered into an agreement with The New York Times to provide all students, faculty and staff of the Oxford campus with access to The New York Times Group Pass service.

With the NYT Group Pass, registered users have unlimited, individual access to the online edition of The New York Times. This includes daily access to the online edition of The Times, email newsletters, blogs, exclusive web content and a wide array of multimedia resources. Access to historical articles is also available, but certain download limits may apply.

Registered users will be able to access their subscription from anywhere via a web browser; while users with a smartphone can enjoy additional access via The New York Times’ smartphone app for iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile.

To register, visit http://nytimes.com/grouppass using a computer that is connected to the Internet via the Oxford campus network.  Students and employees also need to use their @MiamiOH.edu email address during the registration process in order to receive the service for free.

Registered users will be prompted every 180 days to renew their registration.  This allows the university and The New York Times to verify that Miami is providing access to current students and employees, per the terms of the site license.

More information about this new service, including registration instructions, can be found online.
