Troy Travis named assistant vice president for IT services

Troy Travis joins Miami University in a newly created position of assistant vice president of enterprise operations for IT services, beginning Oct. 6.

The new position addresses the critical need to stabilize core operational services. Those services include data center operations, enterprise-wide systems administration, network services and other core IT functions.

Travis comes to Miami from the South Carolina State Department of Education where he was director of network services. His 25-year career in information technology has primarily been in higher education and includes positions at the University of South Carolina, University of Oregon and University of Cincinnati.

“I’m looking forward to working with the IT services leadership team to advance the ‘Path Forward’ for IT services (aligning the division’s skills and capabilities with the university’s goals and objectives),” Travis said.

J.P. Natale, vice president for IT services and chief information officer, said, “Travis has a breadth and depth of knowledge that will be of great benefit to Miami, and we are all incredibly excited to have him join our team.”
