University Senate action Dec. 1

University Senate met Monday, Dec. 1, and heard several reports including a report from Bryan Marshall, chair, Executive Committee of University Senate.

Senate heard the following special reports:

  • Report from the Presidential Task Force on Differentiation of the Regional Campuses, Moira Casey and Maria Cronley, co-chairs

University Senate heard reports from Interim Provost Raymond Gorman, chair of University Senate

  • Review of the charge to the Regional Campuses Process Committee

Items received on the Senate consent calendar included minutes of University Senate committees.

The next meeting of University Senate is scheduled for 3:35 p.m. Jan. 26, 111 Harrison Hall.

With the approval of the Nov. 3, 2014, full minutes and Dec.1, 2014, abbreviated minutes, University Senate endorsed the following resolutions.

SR 15-06
       BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate adopt the proposed new degree, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Studies, Department of Integrative Studies, College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences;
       AND FURTHERMORE, that the endorsement by University Senate of the proposed degree will be forwarded to the Miami University Board of Trustees for consideration. SR 15-06 carried by roll call vote.

SR 15-07
       BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate adopt the proposed new degree, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a New Major, Information Technology, Department of Computer and Information Technology, College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences;
       AND FURTHERMORE, that the endorsement by University Senate of the proposed degree will be forwarded to the Miami University Board of Trustees for consideration. SR 15-07 carried by roll call vote.

Twenty-five members of Faculty Assembly can challenge the resolution by filing a petition with the Office of the University Secretary during the ten class days after publication in the e-Report.
