Active shooter training 4 p.m. Thursday

active-shooterMiami employees are invited to participate in training to help them know  how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter.

“Active shooter” training is offered at no cost to faculty and staff 4-5 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in the Heritage Room of Shriver Center.

Sgt. Scott Smith and Officer Michael Jarvi of the Miami University police department (MUPD) will lead the training.

In addition to MUPD, the dean of students office sponsors this training.

Employees may also familiarize themselves for such a scenario by watching a video called “Run, Hide, Fight” on the emergency procedures page of the university’s campus safety website.

Any groups that want to attend can RSVP to Sgt. Susan Tobergte at moosse@miamioh.edu.
