Regional road construction will affect travel to and from campus

Road construction on U.S. Route 27 and SR 73 will affect travel to and from Miami University’s Oxford campus this spring and summer.

The Ohio Department of Transportation District 8 announced closures on U.S. Route 27 and SR 73 for three separate projects:

  • A culvert replacement will require a full closure of U.S. Route 27 north of Booth Road March 20-24.
  • Resurfacing and a bridge replacement on U.S. Route 27 between Stillwell Beckett Road and Southpointe Parkway will take traffic down to one lane, controlled by a temporary traffic signal. The projected timeframe is the beginning of May through Aug. 12.
  • A culvert replacement will require a full closure of SR 73 at Shollenbarger Road. Construction will last approximately 30 days between June 1 and Aug. 10.

Motorists should expect delays. All work is weather dependent. Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming road closure.

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
