Community Celebration of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Jan. 20

Singing at the 2019 Community Celebration 

The community is invited to “Continuing the Dream in 2020," a celebration of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, in the Armstrong Student Center Pavilion (top floor) on Miami University's Oxford campus.

The event includes a complimentary continental breakfast at 10 a.m. with a program at 11 a.m. It is free and open to the public.

Carolyn Craig, marketing instructor at Miami, is the guest speaker. Craig is a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) and Advanced Certified Cultural Intelligence Professional (ACCQP). She is program facilitator at Miami for an 18-hour Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Certificate Program designed for Miami faculty and staff.

Craig served on Miami’s Presidential Working Group on Diversity and Inclusion 2017-2018. She is president of the Association of Black Faculty and Staff and is building partnerships and inclusivity across organizations with the Association of Latino/Latina Faculty and Staff and Asian and Asian-American Faculty and Staff Association.

The event includes a Talawanda student art exposition. Parking will be free behind Shriver Center and along Maple Street. Armstrong Student Center is on the north side of the intersection of Spring and Maple streets.

The event is sponsored by City of Oxford, Oxford NAACP, Talawanda School District, Oxford Community Arts Center, Smith Library of Regional History, Oxford Citizens for Peace and Justice, McGuffey Montessori School, and Miami's Center for American and World Cultures, office of the president, intercollegiate athletics and office of residence life.
