Miami University's signature coffee blend, Miami Grind, is now available for retail.

In 2017, Miami Grind launched in dining commons, retail cafes, catering operations and concessions. Miami food and beverage has gone through 11,678 pounds since its release date.

In coordination with Rooted Grounds Coffee Co., now customers can purchase the Sumatra and Brazilian blend online or on campus.

Geno Svec, executive director of campus services and chief hospitality officer at Miami, said the inspiration for the blend “came from the students of Miami past, present and future.”

Students helped select the blend

The brand name originates from Miami students, and it alludes to “grinding coffee and the daily grind of life as a student at Miami.”

Students in Associated Student Government at Miami served as taste testers and selected the blend. The Miami student body voted on the name, and the campus services marketing design students were involved in packaging design and selection.

Even though the students were a huge help to the project, they worked alongside Miami’s culinary team and the campus services marketing department.

The retail cost of the coffee blend is $12 per bag or box of K-Cups, and Miami departments can order in bulk from the Culinary Support Center. A deluxe Miami Grind basket is also available.
