Communitywide celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 16

New location and format this year

mlk-posterA communitywide celebration of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at the Shriver Center Dolibois Room.

Doors open at 10 a.m. and a complimentary continental breakfast will be served. 

Tammy Kernodle, professor of musicology at Miami, will be the guest speaker.

She served as a scholarly consultant to "Musical Crossroads," the inaugural music exhibit for the National Museum of African American History and Culture. 

A creative arts exposition with artwork by Talawanda School District students will be on display.

Students from all grades submitted visual or written entries that were inspired by King’s life or that addressed civil and human rights in general.

This event is free and open to all.

Parking will be free behind Shriver Center and on Maple Street.
