Spring into April with energizing wellness programs

Walk 4 Seven Challenge (April 6–12)

The Miami University and Oxford communities will join together to reach 7 million steps in seven days to celebrate the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day. Every step counts, so lace up your shoes and step up to health!

You can register in your Healthy Miami account and/or attend the Walk 4 Seven Kick-Off event 5:15–6:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in the Oxford Uptown Park. Walk-In participants can sign up for the challenge, receive a pedometer, meet fellow walkers, learn more about National Walking Day, and enjoy a 1 mile walk.

FlourishMiami withHawkWalk 2016 (April 4–May 4)

hawk-walkJoin HawkWalk for a five-week program designed to help you flourish. FlourishMiami is a movement founded on the principles of positive psychology and created to help you achieve your best self.

Through playing, learning, helping others, engaging in a spiritual activity, and interacting with others genuinely, we will teach you tools to live your life to the fullest. HawkWalk is open to all Miami faculty, staff and students at no cost and is offered on each campus: 

Oxford: Tuesdays, noon-1 p.m., April 5-May 3

Middletown: Mondays, noon-1 p.m., April 4-May 2

Hamilton: Wednesdays, noon-1 p.m., April 6-May 4

HawkWalk locations vary each week. You will receive weekly emails with a detailed schedule. Activities for 2016 include Mat Ball, sushi rolling, Build-A-Bear for the Miami Holiday Project, pet therapy, expressive journaling and much more.

New Fitness 4 Life workshops

New workshops this spring include Kung Fu with the Confucius Institute, On The Ball with Jenna Mengle, and Indo-Row with Holly Wilson at the Miami rec center.

Also, take a midmorning stressless break and join the Mindfulness Meditation group on Tuesdays from 10:30-11 a.m. They have a new location in the Mindfulness and Contemplative Inquiry Center in 128 McGuffey Hall.  All workshops are open to Miami employees at no cost.
