The Regional Academic Advising office is available to assist students with advising and registration needs. We are usually able to schedule appointments outside of usual business hours.

If you are a new incoming studentdo not schedule an appointment using the steps on this page! You will meet with an advisor during SOAR. If you have questions about Orientation, please reach out to the Regional Office of Student Activities & Orientation at 513-785-3204 or email

Which Advisor Should I See?

Option 1: Faculty Advisor

If you have a declared major, contact your faculty advisor. Faculty Advisors have the best information about major courses, research opportunities and employment options, and they will have the most up-to-date information regarding department course offerings for upcoming semesters.

To find your academic advisor's name and contact information, follow the instructions on the left.

Many faculty advisors do not use Navigate to schedule appointments. Please contact your faculty advisor as directed, by email or phone. Be sure to have a copy of your Degree Audit before you meet with your faculty advisor.

Option 2: Professional Advisor

If you are unsure of your major or cannot connect with your faculty advisor, contact the Regional Office of Academic Advising at 513-727-3440. Professional Advisors can help students with selecting a major, choosing classes and exploring career options.

Plan Ahead! During peak advising periods (October-November and March-April), you should schedule your advising appointment two or more weeks ahead.

Scheduling your Appointment

At Miami, professional advisors schedule appointments using the Navigate system. To schedule, visit

  1. Choose "Get Assistance" located beneath the Miami University logo
  2. Under Choose the type of appointment you would like, select "Regionals Advising and Academic Success"
  3. Under Service, select "Regionals Advising"
  4. Under Pick a Date, select the date that works best for your schedule
  5. Click "Find Available Time" and select  your appointment
    1. Select a specific advisor to see their available times, or
    2. Choose a specific time slot and the system will select an advisor available at that time
  6. On the Review Detail page in the Would you like to share anything else? box, please write:
    1. Your telephone number
    2. The reason for your appointment (it helps the advisor prepare)
  7. Choose "Schedule" to finalize your appointment

After scheduling, you'll receive an email confirmation that includes additional information and instructions.

If you are not familiar or comfortable with Navigate, you can call 513-727-3440 to schedule an appointment. You may need to leave a voicemail with your name, uniqueID, intended major and what you need help with.  Our office will call you back to schedule an appointment.

Using Platforms Other than Zoom

When you schedule, you'll receive a confirmation email that gives you instructions on how to join the advisor's Zoom personal room for the appointment. Though our default is Zoom, we are able to meet with you using Google Meet or WebEx, or by phone call. If you prefer an alternate video-conferencing platform or a phone appointment, please mention it in the Would you like to share anything else? box, or, let your advisor know prior to the appointment by email.

We offer more information for advisors and students about conducting remote advising appointments.

Option 3: On-Call Advisor

If you have a question, please email or call the Regional Offices of Advising at 513-727-3440. During the day, we have an on-call advisor who can answer your questions by phone and refer you for an appointment if necessary.
