News and Updates

The Regional Office of Academic Advising remains open and able to assist students with their advising and registration needs. However, some of our processes have changed as we consider the health and well-being of the Miami University community in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Health and safety remain our top priorities. In an effort to reduce interaction as much as possible we are currently not accepting in-person appointments. We will offer all advising services via WebEx (preferred), Google Meet, phone and email. We will also work to accommodate students on other platforms as necessary.

We offer information for advisors and students about using Navigate and WebEx or Google Meett to conduct remote advising appointments.

If you are a new incoming student, you must use the instructions in your post-online-orientation email to schedule an appointment with an advisor - do NOT use this process!

Option 1: Faculty Advisor

If you have a declared major, contact your faculty advisor. Faculty Advisors have the best information about major courses, research opportunities and employment options, and they will have the most up-to-date information regarding department course offerings for upcoming semesters.

To find your academic advisor's name and contact information:

  1. Log in to myMiami
  2. Click your Student tab located near the top of the screen
  3. Your advisor will be listed in the top right corner
Many faculty advisors do not use Navigate (Formerly known as SSC-Campus) to schedule appointments. Please contact your faculty advisor as directed, by email or phone. Be sure to have a copy of your Degree Audit before you meet with your faculty advisor.

Option 2: Professional Advisor

If you are unsure of your major or cannot make contact with your faculty advisor, contact the Regional Office of Academic Advising. Professional Advisors can help students with selecting a major, choosing classes and exploring career options. To make an advising appointment call:

  • Hamilton Campus | 513-785-3129 | 2nd Floor Rentschler Hall
  • Middletown Campus | 513-727-3440  | 1 Johnston Hall
Professional Advisors on the Regional campuses use Navigate to schedule advising appointments. If you want to make your own appointment please use these instructions:
  1. Login to Navigate
    • If your home screen does not say Student Home, click the triangle drop-down menu and select Student Home.
  2. Click Set Advising Appointment.
Within SSC-Campus advising appointment scheduling system, students can select Set Advising Appointment.
  3. Appointment type: Advising & Academic Support
  4. Location: Regionals Academic Advising
  5. Reason for Appointment: Regionals Academic Advising
  6. Select your advisor:
    • You will see advisors who have available appointments
    • Remember, many faculty advisors don't use Navigate to schedule appointments; please contact your faculty advisor to schedule
  7. Select Morning or Afternoon then choose an available time.
    • We are not currently accepting in-person appointments. Your appointment will take place via WebEx, Google Meet, or phone.
  8. Enter the following comments regarding your visit:
    • If you prefer a phone meeting instead of WebEx or Google Meet
    • Your intended major
    • Your student type: Continuing, New, Transfer, Returning, CCP, etc.
    • Your reason for appointment (i.e., scheduling - anything to help your advisor prep)
    • Your phone number
  9. Click Confirm Appointment. You will receive an email confirmation

Plan Ahead! During peak advising periods (October-November and March-April), you should schedule your advising appointment two or more weeks ahead.

Option 3: Walk-in Advising

Walk-in hours have been suspended for the remainder of spring semester 2020. If you have a quick question, please email regadvising@miamioh.edu or call the Regional Offices of Advising in Hamilton (513-785-3129) or Middletown (513-727-3440).
