What is Forensic Science?

Forensic Science is the use of science in law.

What are the features of Miami’s program?

The BSFSI has two majors, Forensic Science and Forensic Investigation. The Forensic Science major is a combination of the sciences and criminal justice, with a strong chemistry focus. Students should be prepared for a rigorous program of chemistry and other sciences.

What are the special admission requirements, if any?

There are no additional admission requirements for this program.

What courses would I take?

The major in Forensic Science marries coursework in the sciences, with particular emphasis on chemistry, with courses in criminal justice to prepare graduates to work in crime labs, as crime technicians, and to work in other laboratory settings.

What can I do with this major?

Graduates of the Forensic Science major can find employment in crime labs, other labs, and as crime technicians with large police agencies.
