Student Research
In 2023, a team from Miami University, University of Texas at San Antonio, and Northern Kentucky University published an article in Nanomaterials (IF = 5.3) reporting on perovskite quantum dot films as a novel all-optical switch.

Congratulations Mallory Campbell-AURCO Award Winner
Mallory Campbell is a geology major that has been working on her capstone project with Professor Tammie Gerke together with Professor Gerke’s college at the US Army Corp of Engineers, Ms. Sam Ferrarelli for the past year and half. Mallory was presented with an award at the 29th Annual AURCO Conference held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at UC Blue Ash. As one of only three student winners, Mallory received a book scholarship. Mallory presented on the topic: “Using Student Outreach to Create Stewards of the Environment.

Dr. Mark Krekeler
Congratulations to Dr. Mark Krekeler and his team on the final publication of his remote-sensing research for emergency response. This effort was funded by a $547,000 National Institute of Justice grant and represents over seven years of extensive collaboration with Miami Regionals students, alums, technicians, and nonprofit and business collaborators. This freely available research exemplifies the ongoing intersection of research, teaching, and service conducted at Miami Regionals.

Dr. Mithun Bhowmick, Assistant Professor of Physics
Was invited to co-chair a session at the 2022 edition of IEEE-RAPID, a highly rated conference that is typically attended by representatives from reputed research organizations.
