Miami University staff and students worked together to improve the quarantine and isolation experience for students in the spring semester. Listening sessions with various students and student groups led to changes in programming, transportation and microwaves for students in quarantine and isolation.
Summer orientation will look a little different again this year as the office of orientation and transition programs prepares to welcome incoming students during the COVID-19 pandemic for the second year. The 2021 orientation program will build on successes from last year, and expand options for real-time and in-person connections for students.
Formal panhellenic sorority and interfraternity council fraternity recruitment season is over, and the number of new members joining Miami fraternity and sorority life (FSL) chapters are in. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and a virtual recruitment experience, the number of new Miami FSL members this year is consistent with previous years, bucking national trends.

Although many holiday season donation campaigns were cancelled on campus this year due to the pandemic, Miami community members came together to help those in need. Some of the projects this year were modified or scaled back from previous years, but they made an impact.
The Miami University student organization Sexual Assault Survivor Support (SASS) recently received a $5,000 grant through the Bumble Student Organization Fund Contest to fund the expansion of support services for survivors of sexual assault on campus.
