Individual Academic Counseling Sessions

Academic Counseling Staff in the tutoring center

In Academic Counseling, students meet with a Learning Specialist to evaluate their learning goals and to develop a plan for action. Goals could include developing better study strategies, improving performance, or discussing ideas for optimizing their educational experience.

Students who are interested in meeting with a Learning Specialist should contact the Rinella Learning Center's main line at 513-529-8741. Meetings are available most times during the semester.

Topics that could be discussed during one-on-one meeting with a Learning Specialist include:

  • Self Care - sleep, health, personal space
  • Time Management - class attendance, tardiness, sudy time, budgeting time for assignments, keeping an organizer or planner
  • Organization - notes, course material, tracking assignments & due dates
  • Study Skills - note taking, reading completion, reading comprehension, reviewing material, study aids
  • Test Taking - developing exam preparation materials, self testing
  • Motivation & Attitude - feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, perfectionism
