Workday Overview
Workday is here! Miami University’s Board of Trustees adopted a resolution supporting the replacement of its current legacy Banner system with Workday, a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Miami went live with HR and Finance in July 2024. A phased Student implementation is scheduled for completion in 2026.
What is Workday?
Workday is a comprehensive human resources, financial management, and student information system that brings together a wide range of HCM (human capital management), finance, and student functionality into one system.
As a self-service tool, it puts the power of access and information into our faculty, staff, and students’ hands. It will enable process efficiencies across Miami, empowering our community to make timely strategic decisions and offering effective tools to improve how we operate as a higher-ed institution.

Workday Student Implementation
A dedicated Workday implementation team has been formed tp facilitate a smooth and successful transition to Workday. Over the next several years, this team will work with our implementation partner, Avaap, to ensure the system is configured and tested appropriately to meet Miami’s needs.
Workday will become Miami’s integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) and student information system (SIS), leveraging the power of one system for our university.
- Streamline and modernize Miami’s systems
- Elimination of multi-system use to obtain data
- Extensive self-service functionality
- Incorporate industry best practice processes
- Easy access to hundreds of standard reports
- Improve the student experience
This change will impact all faculty and students, as well as select employees.
- Multi-modal communication happening in preparation for the phased impacts of the implementation.
- Change Champions will be reengaged in 2025.
- Regularly check the Miami Workday web page for general information, project spotlights, FAQs, and more.
The Student implementation will happen in phases, starting in the fall of 2025, and continuing through the fall of 2026.
Miami has formed a dedicated Workday implementation team to facilitate a smooth and successful transition to Workday. The team has been and will continue to work closely with Avaap, Miami’s Workday implementation partner.
- Students will register for classes in Workday for the 2026 Fall Semester.
- Faculty and staff can successfully support students using Workday.
