Summer Scholars 2020 will be a free, online program for accepted students. As a virtual experience, the program will no longer include immersive, two-week academic modules. The application for the 2020 Summer Scholars Program is now closed.

With the health of students, faculty, and staff as its top priority, Miami is modifying Summer Scholars programming to offer engaging, online activities during the month of July and benefits throughout the 2020-21 academic year. (See the Calendar of Events.)

During July, Summer Scholars may:

  • Participate in real-time, co-curricular activities that provide expert insight for college preparation. Sessions topics will include financial aid, the college application process, college application essay advice, and case studies on how colleges evaluate admission applications.
  • Have exclusive opportunities to engage with current Miami students and staff, both individually and in group settings.
  • Learn the ins and outs of academic and extracurricular life at Miami from current students, faculty, and staff.
  • Take a virtual tour of the university and learn more about student life, experiential learning opportunities, and all that Miami has to offer.

Throughout the 2020-21 academic year, students will have access to an online platform that will allow them to:

  • Revisit and review the co-curricular activities.
  • Participate with other Scholars in online academic and social discussion forums hosted by Miami representatives. These forums will allow you to ask questions, hear and share stories, and make new friends.
  • Explore a variety of interactive, fun, and educational online games and experiences (including Miami "Jeopardy!," online exhibits from the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, digital escape rooms, and more!).

In addition, Summer Scholars who apply for admission to Miami University will receive priority consideration for merit scholarships and admission to selective programs as well as a waiver of the admission application fee.
