Dr. French selected to deliver a TEDx talk

Nathan FrenchNathan French, assistant professor in the Department of Comparative Religion, has been selected to deliver a TEDx talk in Peabody Hall's Leonard Theatre on Friday, March 4. His talk will "explore the concept of empathy as a tool for addressing the bigotry, racism, and xenophobia plaguing our world."

TEDx talks are modeled after the famous TED Talks--short, engaging presentations (less than 18 minutes) on some topic of public interest. The "x" in "TEDx" indicates that the event is organized independently of the official TED organization, although following its guidelines. Miami University has been hosting TEDx talks since 2013.

The theme for this year's TEDx Miami University event is "The eXperience." Videos of TEDx Miami University talks are available on YouTube. Each year, the TED organization selects a few dozen TEDx talks--out of 10,000 candidates--to feature on the TED main stage.
