Scholarships

The following undergraduate scholarships are sponsored by the KNH Department, thanks to generous gifts from donors and are reserved for current sophomore, junior or first semester seniors:

Virginia Pierson Guinn Memorial Scholarship

  • Nutrition major(s) 
  • Demonstration of academic merit
  • Demonstration of campus and community involvement
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 cumulative 

Victoria L. Eby Memmel Scholarship

  • KNH major(s) from Southwest Ohio area
  • Demonstration of academic merit and/or
  • Demonstration of financial need
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 cumulative 

Margaret E. Phillips Grant

  • KNH major
  • Female student with sophomore, junior or first semester senior standing
  • Demonstration of financial need
  • Involved in campus activities
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 cumulative

Maxine J. Shurtz Scholarship

  • KNH major
  • Female student
  • Minumum GPA: 3.0 cumulative

Bonnie Lynn Sollars Pickering Memorial Scholarship

  • Nutrition major(s)
  • Demonstration of academic merit and/or
  • Demonstration of financial need
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 cumulative

Hays Sports Study Scholarship

  • Sport Studies/Sport Leadership & Management major
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in designated sport studies courses
  • Must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of designated sport studies coursework

Applications for the KNH scholarships will become available in late January, after spring semester begins.  Information will be available in 106D Phillips Hall or on-line on the KNHStudents site of MyMiami, KNH Scholarship Information Tab, https://mymiami.miamioh.edu/web/knh-students1/knh-scholarship-information1 .  The specific deadline date for submission will be stated on the application.  Students must include their overall grade point average, two letters of support from KNH faculty, resume and/or a list of honors, activities and awards, a personal statement that discusses professional aspirations, and a current copy of their Degree Audit Report (DAR). 

Financial need is a criterion for most of our scholarships. The financial aid application can be submitted online at fafsa.ed.gov.
