Mock Interview Program

The Mock Interview Program provides you with real-world interviewing experience with both seasoned professionals and trained peers.


Before you are able to register for the Mock Interview Program, you must:

When are Mock Interviews?

  • Mock Interviews for Fall 2019 begin Sept. 3 and end Dec. 6
  • Mock Interview Daily (Recorded)
    • Monday – Thursday | 0045 ASC | 9 am – 6 pm | Last interview starts at 5 pm
    • Friday | 0045 ASC | 9 am – 3 pm |Last interview starts at 2 pm
  • Mock Interview Daily (Unrecorded — suggested for practice only):
    • Thursday | 0045 ASC | 1 – 5 pm | Last interview starts at 4 pm

Fall Semester Special Events

Students should register for all events in Handshake.

  • All Majors & All Clusters Mock Interview Event
    • Thursday, Sept. 5 (9 am – 5 pm) at the Center for Career Exploration & Success at Armstrong Student Center 0045
  • Health Careers Week Mock Interview Event 
    • Day One: Thursday, Oct. 3 (9 am – 5 pm)  at the Center for Career Exploration & Success at Armstrong Student Center 0045 for check-in
    • Day Two: Friday, Oct. 4 (9 am – 3 pm)  at the Center for Career Exploration & Success at Armstrong Student Center 0045 for check-in

How to Register

  1. Log into HANDSHAKE
  2. Type MOCK in the search bar
  3. Select a Mock Interview Job that works for you. This should be based on 1) YOUR CAREER INTEREST – Some questions will be asked and 2) DATE AND TIME that fits your schedule. Then select QUICK APPLY
  4. Upload your RESUME. Then select SUBMIT APPLICATION
  5. Select a time that works best for you

** If you do NOT have the option to select a Mock Interview Time Slot, it means that all time slots have been taken. Please return to Step #3 and repeat the process to Step #5.

Become a Volunteer Interviewer

Types of Mock Interviewers

  • Event Interviewer (once or twice a year)
  • Phone/Skype Interviewer (as needed)
  • Regularly Scheduled Interviewer (several times per semester)
  • Volunteers can critique virtual interviews via Big Interview (as needed)

How Mock Interviews Work

Interviews will be scheduled every 60 minutes: 15 – 20 minute interview, 20 – 25 minute critique, 5 – 10 minute resume review, 5 minute preparation for next interview.

  • Arrive 30 minutes before first appointment (45 if it is your first time interviewing here)
  • Meet Mock Interview Coordinator — Get room assignment
  • Receive student interview packets
  • Review students resume
  • Greet student
  • Interview student — Complete feedback form
  • Review with student their ratings on:
    • Resume
    • Appearance, Poise, Delivery, Language
    • Responses to: Open-ended, Behavior-based, Career specific questions
    • Closing - Student asks questions, expresses interest, asks for follow-up info, thanks interviewer
  • Prepare for next student

Volunteer Mock Interviewers are required to have a parking permit. You will receive a parking permit via email prior to your arrival on campus.
