Personal Mail

As stated in Section 16.8 (Use of University Property and Resources, Mail Services) of the Policy and Information Manual, the use of mail services at Miami University is limited to university business only. University business constitutes activity which is substantially related to the mission of the university. Personal mail or packages will not be delivered and the recipient will be contacted to come pick up the package.

Accountable Mail

Accountable mail is defined as mail requiring special services, such as a signature or express handling. We record delivery of accountable mail to ensure proper delivery and handling.

Accountable mail includes the following:

  • USPS Express Mail
  • USPS Certified, Insured, Signature Confirmation, Registered Mail
  • International mail received with special confirmation services used by foreign postal services

Delivery and Tracking of Accountable Mail

Accountable mail is delivered during regular daily delivery routes. Delivery staff will require a signature from the department personnel at the time of delivery. Staff may sign on behalf of the department for all mail.

Inquiries regarding the status of accountable mail are welcome. When calling the receiving office, please have the following information ready and available:

  • USPS Tracking number
  • Date the item was sent
  • Name of department or addressee and address

Request Campus Mail Envelopes and Campus Maps

If your office is in need of campus mail envelopes and/or maps fill out our Campus Map/Envelope request. Your request will be processed and delivered within two business days through campus mail.
