About HAVEN: Understanding Sexual Assault

HAVEN: Understanding Sexual Assault is an interactive online course that uses a population-level approach to educate all students on the issues associated with sexual assault and interpersonal violence. HAVEN helps students learn about healthy relationships, what is consent, and ways you can help create a positive, safe campus community.

Miami University requires each member of the first-year class to complete HAVEN as a component of the educational requirements of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (“VAWA”), signed into law on March 7, 2014. First year students receive information about HAVEN during First Year Orientation and mailings over the summer.
