Bargaining Update Feb. 26, 2024

The University and the Union met on February 26, 2024, to continue collective bargaining negotiations for the first faculty contract. As a continuation of its full economic package, the Union presented three new proposals on Employee Health Programs, Flexible Spending Accounts, and Other Insurance. The Union indicated that it has now presented its full economic package to the University but reserves the right to amend or add to that package during future bargaining sessions.

The Union also presented counter proposals on Non-Discrimination and Association Rights. The Union's new Association Rights counter proposal addresses union access to information relating to its bargaining unit members and utilization of University services and facilities for union business, which the University previously rejected. The Union's Association Rights proposal also removes language to which the University has separately responded in other proposals and/or which the Union intends to incorporate into other counter proposals.  The University presented a counter proposal on Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment.

Following a collaborative discussion on the University's counter proposal on Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment the parties entered into a tentative agreement on this article. The parties also reached a tentative agreement on Dues Deduction.

The parties are scheduled to meet next on March 6, 2024.
