In a competitive environment, universities must be nimble and able to pivot to changing market needs. With strategic partnerships and innovation, Miami’s online offices will support university-wide opportunities for developing microcredentials and professional education programs.
In order to attract new students from all career stages, this project provides a portfolio approach to Miami University, with options to obtain market-driven microcredentials and professional education programs in addition to traditional degrees and certificates. Miami will offer these credentials on a range of topics including Agile project management, data analytics, writing, database management, advanced manufacturing, and customer service.
Microcredentials are recorded as virtual badges that include the specialized outcomes or skills earned and are verifiable online by an employer or other institution. The idea represents an outside-in strategic approach to the changing educational landscape because student needs drive the packaging of credentials.
