Project Dragonfly Financial Aid Information

Because of the part-time nature of our program, many of our students are not registered for 5 credit hours during every academic term, so if you are applying for financial aid during a term in which you are not registered for 5 or more graduate credit hours, you will not receive financial aid.

If you receive a financial aid award letter, you will receive notification directly from the Office of Student Financial Assistance/One Stop. When reviewing and accepting your award, it is important that you complete each of the steps shared with you, including informing them of your enrollment status. For additional information on applying for financial aid, please contact the Miami University Office of Student Financial Assistance by phone or by email (513-529-8734; financialaid@miamioh.edu), or contact the One Stop for Student Success Services at 513-529-0001, OneStop@MiamiOH.edu.

Finally, you're encouraged to consider completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) regardless of whether you wish to utilize federal financial aid to finance your studies. Completing the FAFSA does not obligate you to incur debt by taking out student loans, and it may provide Miami University offices that award scholarships or allocate emergency funds important information upon which they may make need-based decisions. Miami One Stop offers excellent information and advice on their FAFSA webpage.

For Washington State residents seeking information and resources about student loan repayment or seeking to submit a complaint relating to your student loans or student loan servicer, please visit www.wsac.wa.gov/loan-advocacy or contact the Student Loan Advocate at loanadvocate@wsac.wa.gov.

Payment Plans

Miami University Bursar’s office does offer payment plans for Spring and Fall Semester. They do not offer payment plans for the summer term.* You can access information on payment plans on the Miami University One Stop for Student Success Services website.

Once your spring or fall fees are posted to your Bursar account, you can request a payment plan right from your Bursar account page. It’s a very easy process.

* Note on Summer Term: While Miami University fully expects students to remit their Summer Term fees by the posted due date, as of August 2017, the Office of the Bursar will not assess a late fee nor cancel summer course registration for non-payment. If you find that you are unable to remit full payment by the due date, you may make payments toward your balance over the course of the summer without penalty; please note, however, that any fees that are outstanding at the end of the term or by the due date for Fall Semester bills, may be subject to late fees, sent to debt collection services, and may prevent future enrollment. Note: the 5-credit hour summer Earth Expeditions courses are considered graduate credit workshops; payment for Miami University workshops is due prior to the course start date.

Refund Policy

All Project Dragonfly courses except the 5-credit hour summer portion of Earth Expeditions courses are considered graduate credit, Oxford campus courses. The refund policy for these course can be found on the Miami University One Stop Refunds website.

The 5-credit hour summer portion of all Earth Expeditions courses are considered graduate credit workshops. The refund policy for graduate credit workshops is different than non-workshop courses and can also be found on the Miami University One Stop Refunds website (expand the content under “Workshop Refund Policy”).

Information on dropping or withdrawing from a course may be found in the Project Dragonfly Graduate Student Handbook.

Billing Process

Miami University’s Office of the Bursar will email you when your Bursar bill is available to be viewed. Those notifications will be sent to your @miamioh.edu email address only.

If you have any questions about your charges on your Bursar account, please email us at dragonflyfinancial@miamioh.edu. You may also contact the One Stop for Student Success Services at 513-529-0001 — please advise them that you are a Project Dragonfly Student.
