Op-Ed: How Can Long Islanders Help the North Atlantic Right Whale?

Marissa Connolly

Miami University graduate student Marissa Connolly had the opportunity to work with the Long Island Press to share information through an op-ed about the plight of the North Atlantic Right Whale (NARW) and how responsible whale-watching can help support conservation efforts in preserving the NARW for generations.

Connolly is working on her Master of Arts in the biological sciences from Miami University through Project Dragonfly‘s Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) while working as a music teacher at the Young Women’s Leadership School in East Harlem, New York City. As an AIP student, Connolly takes web-based Miami courses and participates in experiential learning through Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo and explores natural areas around New York.
