Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) graduate student Allison Hazel of Cortland, Ohio, wrote an article for the Cortland News, a free newspaper serving the City of Cortland and surrounding communities. In "The Bees We Need Are Right in Your Backyard" Hazel shares about her bee research—studying the interactions between European honey bees and native pollinating bees—and offers suggestions for helping native pollinating bees. "Even the smallest effort to help our native bees will benefit their conservation," she writes. Hazel's experiential learning takes place at Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

As a student in Miami's biology department, Hazel is earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Biology through Project Dragonfly's AIP.
