Zookeepers: Caregivers and resource reducers

Chelsea Vabro

Global Field Program (GFP) graduate student and zookeeper Chelsea Vabro of North Riverside, Illinois, was published in Animal Keepers' Forum, a publication of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK). In "Low-Cost Sustainability Efforts from a Zookeeper's Perspective" Vabro addresses sustainability efforts within animal care operations and encourages zookeepers to continue to evaluate how they are operating and what tools they are using. "There are many ways to help reduce waste, and not all options have to be high cost to make a big impact."

As a student in Miami's biology department, Vabro is earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Biology through Project Dragonfly's GFP while working as a veterinary assistant at the Kersting Veterinary Clinic.
