Tours and Group Visits

Faculty and anyone wishing to schedule a class or group visit should email artmuseum@MiamiOH.edu to make arrangements. A minimum of one week's notice for these visits is required.

Directions

The Museum sits on State Route 27 / Patterson Avenue on the southern edge of Miami University's Oxford campus.

  • A short walk from Shriver, Tappan, and Western Campus
  • Located on the Miami University U3 bus route via Shriver.

From the northeast: I-70 to State Route 127 south to State Route 73 west to State Route 27 south

From the northwest: I-70 to State Route 27 south

From the south: I-275 to State Route 27 north

From the southwest: I-74 to I-275 north/east to State Route 27 north

From the east: I-75 to State Route 73 west to State Route 27 south

From the north: I-70 to State Route 127 south to 73 west to State Route 27 south

Parking

A campus visitor's permit or a RED Faculty/Staff permit IS REQUIRED to park at the museum.

  • Visitor permits may be obtained at the museum by checking in at the front desk as soon as you arrive at the Art Museum at no cost to guests visiting the museum.
  • PLEASE NOTE per University Policy, students, faculty and staff may not use Visitor Parking Passes.
  • A limited amount of cashless metered spots with instructional signage are available for students.
  • Alternatively, visitors can pre-book parking online for a small fee. For further details visit the Parking and Transportation webpage.

Accessibility

All museum entries are at street level. A wheelchair is available on request. Individuals who require other accommodations, (e.g., interpreters for the hearing impaired), must contact the university at least 24 hours in advance of the date of their visit in order for Miami University to accommodate their needs. Frequently Asked Questions

Are bags allowed during my visit?

Purses and small bags are permitted in the galleries. Backpacks should be checked at the front desk.

Can I take pictures of artwork?

Non-flash photography by the general public is permitted as follows:

  • unless a 'no-photos' icon is present
  • photographs must be for private, noncommercial use only*
  • photographs may not be published, sold, reproduced, distributed or otherwise commercially used
  • no tripods, selfie sticks, or photography equipment other than a camera or smartphone are permitted in the galleries**
  • access to exhibitions, entrances/exits, doorways, pathways remains unobstructed

*General visitors may upload personal pictures to social media sites, so long as they are not available for someone to purchase or used to market a business.
**For professional photography and video shoots, a permission to photograph form must be completed and approved.
