As a Student Center dedicated to student engagement and success, we invest heavily in the selection, training, development, and evaluation of student staff to assist in running the building. We employ nearly 80 students each semester across 5 broad job areas to ensure our operations are fully staffed. Below are brief job descriptions for our student employee positions; we invite all qualified students to apply for positions as they become available throughout the year. While our biggest staff recruitment periods are in November and April, positions may open periodically throughout the semester - so check back frequently!

Student Building Managers are responsible for managing daily operations of the Armstrong Student Center. They must maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times and must be able to make independent decisions. They are responsible for safety and security in the building, supporting fellow Armstrong Student Center staff, and serve as an on-site point of contact for all events.
Armstrong Student Center Ambassadors serve as primary customer service contacts to visitors to Miami’s campus and the Armstrong Student Center. Ambassadors provide direction and general information to students, faculty, staff and university guests. Ambassadors will work at both the main Information Desk and the reception desk in the ASC Administrative Suite.
Event Production Team members work with Student Building Managers to provide outstanding customer service for ASC events. Team members led by a crew leader execute room, furniture and A/V set-up and tear-down. This includes vacuuming and removing non-food service trash between events. Work will include monitoring and operating A/V equipment for large events.
EPT Crew Leaders provide helpful direction and supervision to the Event Production Team during the production process of events in the Armstrong Student Center. EPT Crew Leaders will ensure all production work meet the ASC standard and support Event Production Team members with A/V equipment, room set-ups, and tear down. In addition crew leaders will assist with the professional development of Event Production Team members and have an integral role in their training and evaluation.
The Red Zone team member is responsible for attending to the needs of the customers of the Red Zone. The team member is responsible for maintain the organization of all materials presented, room cleanliness, maintaining gaming areas, clean and maintain gaming tables. Team Members must present an extensive knowledge of information about the Red Zone area, Armstrong Student Center and the campus, services/programs.
Commuter Center Assistants (CCAs) staff the center between 15 and 20 hours a week. In addition to providing oversight and making improvements to the Commuter Center, they register students for the free lockers, answer questions, and plan programs.
