Information for Graduates

Please arrive at Millett Hall by 1:15 p.m. if you desire to participate in the recognition ceremony. The procession will line up at 1:45 p.m. (Master’s Degrees first with Undergraduates to follow). The program will start promptly at 2 p.m.

Reader Card Pick Up

Undergraduate candidates:

Upon arrival, please check in at the appropriate designated tables as indicated by your last name A-J West Concourse (nearest parking lot), K - R Center Concourse (center/front doors of Millett Hall), and S - Z East Concourse (nearest Gross Center) to pick up your name card.

Masters Degree candidates: 

Upon arrival, please check in at the appropriate designated table in the Center Concourse (center/front doors of Millett Hall) to pick up your name card.

Please remain in your designated area for line up at 1:45 p.m.

Please be dressed appropriately in the university-approved cap and gown. (Note: The tassel goes on the LEFT side of your mortarboard. Tassels were moved from the right side to the left at the university ceremony earlier on Saturday). For more information on ordering tassels, visit the Miami University Official Bookstore website.

Line-up and Seating

  • At 1:45 p.m. we will begin lining up outside of Millett into 8 even lines to process into the ceremony. Please follow the directions of the faculty marshalls.
  • We will have open seating for graduates on the main floor, with faculty and Master’s degrees candidates occupying the first 3 rows.

Information for Families and Friends

All university parking lots and parking garages will be open to the public at no charge during commencement weekend, including Millett Assembly Hall, Ditmer, and Cook Field lots. On both Saturday and Sunday, we strongly recommend that you use our BCRTA shuttle service from the Ditmer and Cook Field lots to avoid traffic congestion.

Accessible parking is available in the West Millett Lot. A valid state-issued disability placard is required to park in accessible parking spaces. An accessible drop-off location is also available on the North side of Millet.

Accessible seating is available on the court level and the upper level, both accessible by elevator. Please connect with an usher upon arrival, and they will be able to assist you. Guests sitting in the accessible seating area are permitted one companion to accompany them in the accessible seating area.

Additional Information

  • Tickets are not required.
  • The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.
  • Current planning includes open seating, with no restriction on the number of guests.
  • All bags will be checked upon entering the arena. Please plan to leave all non-essential items in your locked vehicle.
  • Plan to arrive early!
